Bilingual invoices: help
Bilingual invoices makes invoices and packing slips in French and English for your Shopify orders, with each Canadian sales tax on its own line and your registration numbers beside it. Aide en français plus bas.
Getting started
- Install the app, open it from your Shopify admin and choose the plan (14-day free trial).
- Under Your business, enter your legal business name, your address, and your GST/HST and QST numbers if you're registered. Save.
- Under Orders, pick an order and press Invoice PDF or Packing slip PDF, or Preview to check it first.
What the invoice shows
- Your legal name, address and registration numbers, the order number and date, and the customer's billing name and address.
- Each item with its quantity, unit price and amount, any discounts, shipping, and the total.
- Each tax on its own line, TPS/GST, TVH/HST, TVQ/QST or TVP/PST, with its rate and the matching registration number.
- The terms of payment: paid in full, or due on receipt.
The invoice shows the taxes your store charged on the order. If a tax looks wrong, check your tax settings in Shopify (Settings > Taxes and duties) and with your accountant: the app doesn't calculate tax.
French first or English first
Both languages are printed the same size on one page. French comes first by default, because Quebec's language law asks for French to be at least as prominent as any other language. Sellers outside Quebec can choose English first under Your business. Amounts are written the way the first language writes them.
Which orders
Shopify lets the app read the last 60 days of orders. The latest 20 are listed; search by order number, customer name or email to find others in that window.
Warnings on the preview
- No registration number saved: the order charges a tax whose number you haven't entered. Add it under Your business.
- Amounts this invoice doesn't list: the order total includes something else, such as duties or tips.
- Addresses withheld: Shopify hasn't yet given the app access to customer addresses. The document is still made, without them.
- More items than this document lists: only the first 100 items of a very large order are shown.
Warnings appear on the screen only. They are never printed on the document.
Plans and billing
One plan, US$9 a month or US$90 a year, with a 14-day free trial. Shopify handles the plan and the billing: change or cancel it under Settings > Apps in your Shopify admin. Uninstalling the app cancels it.
En français
Installez l'application, ouvrez-la depuis votre admin Shopify et choisissez le forfait. Sous Your business, entrez votre nom légal, votre adresse et vos numéros de TPS/TVH et de TVQ. SousOrders, choisissez une commande et téléchargez la facture ou le bordereau d'expédition en PDF.
Le français et l'anglais sont imprimés de la même taille sur une seule page, le français en premier par défaut. La facture reprend les taxes perçues par votre boutique; l'application ne calcule pas les taxes. Validez vos réglages avec votre comptable.
